Overview

TECHNICAL WRITER/ EDITOR (MCSC)

Bowhead seeks a Technical Writer/Editor to support the Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC) contract in Albany, GA. The Technical Writer/Editor must have expertise in Marine Corps Acquisitions and Logistics and the ability to write and update material for reports, manuals, briefs, instruction books, catalogs and related technical publications. This is a high paced dynamic rewarding work environment supporting multiple acquisition teams.

Responsibilities

  • Editing technical publications such as scientific and engineering research reports and author manuscripts for which technical reviews have been completed.

  • Correcting errors of grammar, spelling and various formats.

  • Preparing corrections ranging from substitutions in terminology to complete rewrite of passages in text.

  • Meeting with authors to explain needs for improvement and to obtain concurrence with recommended changes.

  • Identifying problems such as insufficient documentation that has been furnished to support statements, and where more general terminology improves readability.

  • Experience editing technical papers and publications in a government environment plus knowledge of working with scientific and technical subject matter is preferred.

  • Manage electronic libraires within the customers logistics information systems.

  • Must have experience working as an editor.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in English or relevant field plus five to eight (5-8) years of technical writing experience is highly preferred.

  • Experience editing technical paper and publications in a government environment plus knowledge of working with scientific and technical subject matter is preferred.

  • Must have experience working as an editor.

  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.

  • This position work will be conducted on Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany but has the possibility for occasional telework.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 5-10 pounds

  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time

  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Public Trust level. US Citizenship is a requirement for a Public Trust clearance at this location.
