This dynamic company supports the other UIC Subsidiaries as well as maintains its own project work. This position is expected to interface heavily with our clients and develop new opportunities. The Associate Scientist is expected to provide project management as well as project support for other staff. Our projects range from the oil and gas sector to infrastructure development to planning.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies to foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including community groups, government agencies, businesses, and other relevant parties.

  • Conduct stakeholder analysis to identify and prioritize key stakeholders and their interests.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholder inquiries and concerns.

Public Meeting Coordination:

  • Plan, organize, and facilitate public meetings, workshops, and other engagement activities.

  • Coordinate logistics for public meetings, including venue selection, scheduling, invitations, and materials preparation.

  • Ensure that public meetings are accessible and inclusive, addressing the needs of diverse communities.

Communication and Outreach:

  • Develop clear, concise, and engaging communication materials for stakeholders and the public, including presentations, reports, newsletters, and social media content.

  • Manage and update the project website and social media platforms to provide timely information and updates.

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication and engagement activities, providing recommendations for improvement.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • Work closely with project teams to ensure alignment of stakeholder engagement activities with project goals and timelines.

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to enhance engagement efforts and leverage resources.

  • Provide training and support to staff on stakeholder engagement and public meeting best practices.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Public Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in stakeholder engagement, public relations, or community outreach.

  • Proven experience in planning and coordinating public meetings and engagement activities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

  • Proficiency in using digital communication tools and social media platforms.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and flexible approach.

  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in public engagement and consultation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Public Participation (e.g., from IAP2) or a similar credential.

  • Experience working in environmental projects and planning.

Working Conditions

Flexibility to work outside standard office hours for events and meeting.
