Overview
Supervise underground water and sewer work crews in completion of contract work, warranty work, and demolition of equipment. Responsible for supervision, direction, and safety of work crew during construction process.
Responsibilities
• Adherence to the UIC Policies and Procedures including Shareholder employment opportunities
• Responsible for supervision, direction and safety of work crews in all aspects of commercial construction
• Read and interpret plans and specifications, read and correct shop drawings and utilize/maintain project schedule
• Possesses high level knowledge of hdpe fusing process, hdpe materials, materials used in underground water and sewer construction
• Maintain worker safety and an accident free work environment in strict compliance with OSHA rules.
Perform Quality Control functions
• Work with Project Manager to budget, forecast, and manage craft labor, equipment, materials, small tools, consumables, and general working environment
• Work with Project Manager to review and update project schedule and three weeks look ahead scheduling
• Must be familiar with specific project, owner’s representatives, location of tools and equipment.
• Ability to be responsible for supervision, direction and safety of work crews in all aspects of commercial construction
• Must have the ability to read and interpret plans and specifications, read and correct shop drawings and utilize/maintain project schedule
• Must be committed to worker safety and an accident free work environment and in strict compliance with OSHA rules
• Must have OSHA 10 hour certification
• OSHA Competent Person
• Ability to perform Quality Control Functions
• Perform independently without direct supervision
• Ability to operate basic construction equipment, such as excavators, forklifts, rock trucks, trenchers and loaders
• Have punctual and on time work history
Job requires being reliable, responsible, dependable, and fulfilling obligations
• Additional duties as assigned. Essential Knowledge, Skills and Expertise
• Must be Hepatitis A & B, and tetanus vaccinate
Qualifications
Required Experience
• Must be familiar with specific project, owner’s representatives, location of tools and equipment.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have Commercial Driver’s License
Preferred Experience
• 15 years of underground water and sewer construction experience 7-10 years’ experience in a supervisory role Worked on remote
Other Physical Demands:
• Strenuous walking, standing, and/or climbing, heavy lifting and carrying.
• Working on uneven walking surfaces, working on ladders and scaffolding.
• Working in Trenches
• Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
• Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, moving materials, and manipulating materials. Environmental Conditions:
• Loud noises, and/or extremes of heat or cold.
• The work often requires wearing protective gear that may be uncomfortable.
• The nature of the work environment may produce moderate levels of stress.
• Work environment is that of a construction site.
• May be working in close proximity to moving equipment.
